What "The Monk" says!!

Ystrad Rhondda 6 Rumney 24

Ystrad were well aware that they were facing what is arguably regarded as the best set-piece in the Division as visitors Rumney gave Premiership side Glamorgan Wanderers a hard time in the scrum the week previous & the home defence had to be on top form to reduce the Cardiff team to a solitary first half converted try plus penalty for a half time 0-10 lead. The home side suffered the loss of scrum half Mark Jones in the first quarter with a hamstring problem, though deputy Cain Rees did a sterling job for the remainder of the game.
Outside half Dylan Jones hit back with a penalty early in the 2nd half when number eight Hywel Stoddart stole opposition lineout ball & his offload to Captain Chris Hanly allowed Ystrad to force their way into Rumney’s twenty-two & the visitors were lucky not to receive a yellow card for slowing ball release in the “red zone” with a clear overlap out wide.
Jones edged his team closer with another well struck penalty following a scrum infringement centre field but Rumney then regained control of the game & finished with two tries in the last quarter both converted by the reliable boot of Danny Clark.
Ystrad will hope for a speedy recovery from a 2nd half shoulder injury to influential flanker Neil Walker.
