With 13 teams competing in this season’s Admiral Premiership, each side has scheduled weekends without a league fixture, with Ystrad having their first break of the campaign last weekend. The squad now return refreshed and ready for another important test on the road.

Having started the season away at Bargoed before returning to Gelligaled Park to face Newbridge, Saturday sees Ystrad back on their travels as the 2026/27 Premiership campaign continues.

Team News

Ystrad have named a 23-man squad for the trip to Bonymaen, with Corben Evans captaining the side from hooker.

Leon Moore starts at loosehead alongside Evans, with Callum Dawe completing the front row.

Cole Parry and Mason Roderick combine in the second row, while Sion Edwards, Jayden King and Mackenzie Williams make up the back row.

At half-back, Callum Phillips starts at scrum-half alongside Lewis Williams at fly-half.

Seb Ripley and Thomas Roberts continue their partnership in the midfield, with Charlie Stoddart and Calen Edwards on the wings. Kurtis Williams completes the starting side at full-back.

The finishers are Liam Wiggins, Ethan Treharne Ennis, Nathan English, Matthew Jeczalek, Iwan Williams, Keian Richards, Ethan Davies and Rhys Dendle.

There could also be a special moment for new summer signing Ethan Davies, who is set to make his Ystrad Rhondda senior debut from the bench.

Back on the Road

After a weekend away from competitive action, Saturday provides the squad with the opportunity to get straight back into the rhythm of Premiership rugby.

The opening weeks of the season have already provided opportunities for a number of the club's summer additions, with Jayden King, Mackenzie Williams, Seb Ripley, Thomas Roberts and Charlie Stoddart all again included in this weekend's starting side, while fellow summer signing Ethan Davies is set to make his debut from the bench.

There is plenty of experience throughout the matchday 23 too, with the finishers providing options across both the forwards and backs as the game develops.

The Opposition

Bonymaen provide the next challenge in what is another demanding away fixture for Ystrad.

Playing away from home in the Premiership always presents its own challenges, and the squad will know the importance of being accurate, disciplined and competitive from the opening whistle.

Following the scheduled weekend off, the focus will be on quickly finding the intensity required and putting together a strong collective performance across the 80 minutes.
