Ystrad Rhondda return to Admiral Premiership action this weekend with a trip to the capital to face Cardiff Met RFC, as league action resumes following the latest round of fixtures.

Attention now turns to an away challenge at Cyncoed Campus, where Ystrad face a demanding test against a Cardiff Met side known for their tempo and athleticism, particularly on home turf.

Team News

The Ystrad coaching team have named their side for Saturday’s away encounter, with Liam Wiggins captaining the team from hooker.

The starting XV shows continuity across much of the squad, with a balanced blend of experience and pathway representation as Ystrad look to deliver a strong performance on the road.

Team Overview

Forwards

In the front row, Tom Stacey, Liam Wiggins and Leon Moore will be tasked with establishing a solid platform at the set piece against a Cardiff Met pack that prides itself on mobility and work rate. The second-row pairing of Iwan Williams and Cole Parry will play a key role in the tight exchanges and at line-out time.

The back row of Mason Roderick, Jack Rees and Carwyn Owen offers physicality, energy and ball-carrying ability, and will be central to the contest at the breakdown.

Backs

At half-back, Callum Phillips and Lewis Williams link up with responsibility for managing tempo and territory in what is expected to be a high-intensity contest.

In midfield, Cole Morgan and Garin Lane provide balance in both attack and defence, while the back three of Cavan Davies, Josh Williams and Alex Webber offer pace and counter-attacking threat from wide areas.

Finishers

Ystrad’s replacements include Carl Williams, Daniel Morgan, Nathan English, Daniel Davies, Lloyd Matthews, Keian Richards, Jacob Symes and Jordan Williams, offering impact and versatility as the game develops.

The Opposition

Cardiff Met RFC will be looking to make the most of home advantage at Cyncoed Campus. Known for their high-tempo and expansive approach, they are a well-conditioned side capable of stretching defences across the width of the pitch.

Ystrad will need to be disciplined and accurate throughout the 80 minutes to counter the threats posed by the hosts.
