We’re back on the road this weekend as Ystrad Rhondda travel west to face Narbeth RFC in the Admiral Premiership. The match follows last Saturday’s hard-fought home win against Brecon RFC, where the squad delivered a strong all-round performance in front of the Gelligaled Park crowd.
This weekend marks another opportunity to continue building consistency and developing combinations as the squad heads into the heart of the league campaign.
The coaching team have made a few rotational changes to the side, ensuring players gain valuable minutes and keeping strong competition for places throughout the group.
Team News
The front row remains unchanged, with Tom Stacey, Corben Evans, and Leon Moore continuing after a strong showing last week against Brecon.
In the second row, Mason Roderick again partners Cole Parry, the pair providing stability at lineout time and work rate around the park.
The back row sees a fresh look — Morgan Burgess comes into the starting XV, joining captain Jarrad Llewellyn, who continues at openside, while Kelly Jones retains the number eight shirt to round out a balanced trio.
At half-back, Keian Richards steps in to start at scrum-half, linking up with Jacob Symes at fly-half. Their partnership will be key in controlling tempo and territory at the Lewis Lloyd Ground.
In midfield, Cole Morgan and Logan Hutchings continue their combination, offering both defensive organisation and attacking threat.
The back three sees Kurtis Williams and Cavan Davies start on the wings, with Alex Webber once again lining up at fullback.
Finishers: Liam Wiggins, Nathan English, Curtis Whitford, Jack Rees, Carwyn Owen, Callum Phillips, Lewis Williams, Ryan Evans.
The Opposition
Narbeth RFC have proven a difficult side to beat at home, with a strong set piece and a fast, expansive backline. The Otters’ ability to turn defence into attack quickly will test Ystrad’s organisation and discipline.
Ystrad will look to build on last week’s momentum, maintaining their defensive steel while continuing to develop attacking rhythm in open play.
Looking Ahead
With another round of rotational changes and opportunities for players to impress, the focus remains on building cohesion, consistency, and a collective edge on the road.
The squad will aim to carry the energy and composure shown against Brecon into what promises to be a competitive encounter in West Wales.
Kick-off at the Lewis Lloyd Ground is 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 8th, 2025. Safe travels to all Ystrad supporters making the journey — your backing away from home is always appreciated!
