The local loose head prop gained valuable game time at the beginning of his career, stepping up to senior rugby with Ystrad at the age of 18 while attached to Cardiff Blues. Rhys was a tough, mobile prop so it was no surprise to see his professional career going from strength to strength, beginning with Cardiff Rugby, before a long career with Saracens RFC. Rhys also became a full Wales international, gaining 7 caps.
